PM processes can avoid, or greatly reduce, the need to use metal removal processes, thereby drastically reducing yield losses in manufacture and often resulting in lower costs.
Powder metal gears are found in aerospace, agricultural, automotive, building and construction, marine transportation, material handling, medical, military, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, power generation and robotics industries. 
Powder metallurgy is a process for forming metal parts. There are three steps in the process:

1. Mixing the metal powders
2. Compacting the powders to the desired shape
3. Heating the compacted shape under controlled conditions
